Laflamme Engineering wins award at JEC Europe 2014
May 16, 2014
In acknowledgment for its participation in the Hematocare™ portable hyperbaric chamber made by the Quebec company Gaumond Medical Group (GMG), Laflamme Engineering along with GMG and other partners received the Innovation 2014 award in the medical category at the prestigious JEC Europe 2014 exhibition, that was held in Paris in March.
The co-owners of the Coleraine engineering consulting firm, David and Enrick Laflamme, are flattered to be chosen as suppliers of state-of-the-art engineering services for that type of project. According to David Laflamme: "This award shows how Quebec SMEs can innovate by pooling their strengths." The enginneer responsible for the project at Laflamme Engineering, André Dubois, underlines the project initiator's contribution: "Claude Gaumond, president of GMG, is an example of tenacity and it is through his determination that this exciting project came to be."
GMG's Hematocare™ device, designed with light and performing composite materials, is the first fully portable hyperbaric chamber. Hyperbaric treatment aims to increase the amount of dissolved oxygen in the patient's blood by submitting the patient to higher pressures and oxygen levels. One of the goals of these treatments is to accelerate the recuperation phase following an accident or surgery.
